A Woman President for Philippine Councilors League - Bohol
« on: July 10, 2007, 12:48:01 PM »
Ric V. Obedencio writes this Bohol news story

Four potential contenders are interested of the much-coveted top post of the Philippine Councilors League-Bohol chapter.

The latest to surface as strong contender for the PCL seat is Garcia Hernandez lady Kagawad Tita Baja Gallentes.

Gallentes, the only Lakas survivor elected councilor in this limestone-rich town, is said to be determined to
throw her hat in the said race.

Gallentes' bid was boosted with the recent signing of a "manifesto of support" by her colleagues in her town despite being the lone Lakas survivor. Signatories of the manifesto were Kagawads Carmen Jaminal, Agustin Pagaran, Mario Moran, Remedios Acabo, Cesar Madelo, Pio Salmasan, Concordio Jamero and Urbano Macalos together with Mayor Myrna Schreurs and Vice Mayor Miguelito Galendez.

Catigbian Councilor Doris Obena said she will join Gallentes because she is convinced of her cause. She is eyed as Gallentes' vice-president for 1st district. Their (Gallentes, Obena and company) goal is to change the image of PCL as a "non performing" group.

If elected, Gallentes will be the first woman PCL president and the first in 3rd district.

Former Duero councilor Robert Peligro accompanied Gallentes in the campaign sorties in the municipalities.

Banking on "early bird catches worm," re-elected and last-termer city Councilor Danilo A. Bantugan was the first to announce his eagerness to slug it out in the PCL derby.

Incumbent president Brigido Z. Imboy wanted to serve again for the term 2007-2010 after his re-election as councilor in Loay.

Jagna Kagawad Senen Lloren, younger brother of Mayor Exuperio Lloren, will also throw his hat in the race.

Meanwhile, lawyer Antonino Jumawid, number one Batuan town councilor who earlier manifested interest in the PCL presidency, withdrew from the race.

The PCL-Bohol past presidents were Atty. Felix R. Uy of Baclayon; then city Kagawad Atty. Paulino Clarin; and businessman former City Councilor George Lao, the first PCL head.

PCL federated president represents the municipal councilors as ex-officio member to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

if they have the money why not run? di ba? mahal baya ang pinalitay sa PCL! Sauna nga eleksyun, P10k ang pinalitay sa mga konsehal para modaog lang! I heard (tsismis na pud ni) nga si Gallentes is back up by Gov. Si Senen Lloren of Jagna will run pero walay igo nga kuwarta...si Dandan Bantugan of Tagbilaran will run pud kay supported ni Mayor Dan Lim ambot lang if madayun ba...naay source nako nga dili daw siya modagan kay magpabayad lang.

You know what uso na magpabayad oy sa panahon sa eleksyun. This year, David Tirol mingduol kang Cong. Cajes kay magpabayad og P10 million para dili kuno muatbang as congressman in the 2nd district.. sauna gibayran siya og 4 million kadtong bag-o pa si cajes..pero last may 14...wala na siya nagpatunto. nakagamot na baya siya sa 2nd district.

why am telling you this? tungod kay ingana ang tinuod nga pulitika sa atoa. Ultimo sa SK sa pageleksyon sauna..perting gastoha to. cellphone, overnite stay. samot pa ang PCL ug mayor's league.

Ayayay!

I think  its a great idea; a person's gender should not be a limiting factor to his/her potential to be a leader in the Philippines. Look at Pres. Aquino and Pres. Arroyo-Macapagal. Both of whom have brought the country out of depression and both of whom were women. I think Filipina women have proven themselves as worthy candidates for public office. Of course they should have the proper education, experience and ability to command the senado and kongresso---AND attain the loyalty of our AFP  :P

I should say it's about time for PCL-Bohol to have a woman president.
I didn't hear much about PCL's activities under the present leadership. Now he still wants to hold on to the position? What does he have to show he deserves another term? The same thing how he got himself elected last time?

Well, it's up to the councilors.
