It appears that the race for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) provincial federated president, who will sit as ex-officio member of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan, would be a three-cornered fight between two congressmen and a municipal mayor.
This developed recently following talks circulated around that three aspirants for the top SK post are to slug it out.
The latest to signify is Jake Jala, who was elected as municipal SK president of Loboc town. During the barangay level, he got 17 of the 26 votes and became SK chair in barangay Poblacion Sawang. But he has no SK kagawads since nobody dared to throw their hats.
Jake Jala is reportedly supported by congressman Adam Relson Jala, son of former congressman Eladio Jala of third congressional district.
Earlier on, Jane Cajes, daughter of Congressman Roberto Cajes, reportedly wanted to become SK president, apparently to follow the footsteps of her sister Frances Bobbith Cajes-Auza, who served for five years after two SK polls postponement in 2005 and 2006.
In an interview, her father said yesterday there is no definite plan yet. This will be known next week, he said. But he confirmed that Jane Cajes was elected as SK municipal federated SK chair of Trinidad town where her mother Baby Cajes is the incumbent municipal mayor.
Earlier on, 17-year old Sandrena Naldoza Schreurs, daughter of Garcia-Hernandez Mayor Myrna N. Schreurs is slated to join the derby for SK highest post, said his father Vim Schreurs.
Also in separate phone interview, Myrna Schreurs said there is no final decision yet if her daughter pursues her plan. She said that the group of ten mayors in 3rd district has yet to decide. The family of Schreurs counts on the support of the mayors.
Sandrena, a first year nursing student, was uncontested in the recent municipal level SK election. She was also unopposed in the barangay level and became SK chair of barangay East Canayaon.
