20 former rebels received cash assistance from DavOcc provincial LGU
MALITA, Davao Occidental, Feb. 13 – Some 20 former rebels received a cash assistance of P5,000 each from the provincial local government of Davao Occidental on Tuesday (Feb. 11) at the municipal gym of Malita town.
Davao Occidental Vice-Governor Franklin Bautista together with 73rd Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Ronaldo G. Valdez, personally handed over the cash assistance to the recipients.
After the activity, the 73rd IB personnel accompanied the FRs to a local store to shop and buy their basic needs.
Lt. Col. Valdez also treated the FRs for a sumptuous lunch in a restaurant.
These FRs are presently staying in Bahay Pag-asa where they are being taken care of by this unit.
Aside from the financial assistance, most of these former rebels who decided to return to the folds of the law and join the mainstream of our society, will also be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) for livelihood trainings and other forms of assistance.
The cash assistance for the FRs is part of the efforts of the Davao Occidental Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC). (73rd IB)
