Blessings Are the Things We Take for Granted

Blessings are the things we take for granted.
Each holiday we notice what we see.
Most know the Earth is utterly enchanted
Yet walk through life and love mechanically.
Valuing one's gifts takes resolution
After days and nights of fantasy.
Love brings the sweet relief of absolution,
Enveloping our hesitance in need.
No touch inspires so swift a revolution,
Transforming all the hieroglyphs we read.
In your love is the charity of spring,
Nor self-obsessed nor blinded by some creed,
Embracing the grey dawns that blessings bring.

I try to notice all the blessings I have each day and even those blessed to me years ago.

I thank the Lord for blessing me by bringing my husband home safe each day; for the feeling of love we feel for each other; for the comfort and safety of our little house; for the humble food we eat; for good health...

I thank the Lord for the peace we are enjoying in this country and back home where our family is; for the safety of my police officer sister; for the safety of my driver brother in the outskirts of Mindanao; for the good health of my whole family; for the food they eat...

My heart is overflowed with gratitude to God for everything He did for me and for my family and the things He didn't do for me because it was BEST for me.  Most of all, I will forever be thankful to God for extending the life of my mother after her critical surgery.

Ate Ging, after reading what you wrote, I immediately remembered this one excerpt in the Bible that relates to what you reflected.

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
O give thanks to the Lord of Lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.
To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:
The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:
The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

And I prayed for Tito Pael in church services this past Sunday, Ate Ging.
May your dear Tito be welcomed unto the arms of the Most High, to be united with all of your relatives and loved ones who went before us. And may he sing the un-ending hym of praise.

I pray your Tito Pael meets my Lola Nating, Lola Babing, Papa Titing and Mama Luz.

Before going to sleep, I never close my eyes without saying "Thank you Lord for everything" followed by the rest of my prayers.
