The One Who Makes Me Smile
Have you ever had the feeling of complete ecstasy in visual stimulation?
I enter class by 10 am, the doors of systemic pathology opens, with my suit case, I tred inside.
The conundrums of intellectual discourse resound: etiology of disease, prognosis, treatment, prognosis
The reverberant powers of medical wisdom permeate the entire room.
My mind is set forward, in total elliptical focus of the material of the day, however~
However, my dear lady, the vision of your smile, never fails to impinge in this man’s mind.
The delicate flower,
The colorful leaf,
The straight branch of the sycamore tree
The lone spiral,
The illustration of satisfied reverie.
And at the sound of break, 5 minutes till 11, I pardon myself to a simple water break.
A sip of water,
The hydration of the internal dynamic, the physical effervescence,
And there you are:
You come out of Human Anatomy Lecture,
With your purple medical scrubs, clogs on foot, and a smile on thy face.
And this intrepid, ambitious, driven man that is my own persona is uplifted in ethereal smile.
You call out, “Hi Al!â€
The serious demeanor that I carry fades away,
Like the snow in an late winter’s morn melts at the soothing sun’s rays.
And in joyous satisfaction, my dear lady, I smile and reply,
“Hi Stacy.â€
We converse for a while, and sometimes that ‘while’ becomes minutes,
Then those minutes turn to hours, and long and behold it is time to return to class.
You to yours, and to mine.
We clasp hands, do our shake, your hand is tight and firm, yet warm and delicate.
With a new burst of inspiration for the new day, your smile retains its impingement within the soul of this man.
And provides the fuel for continued work, and to see you, yet, again.
Smile.
Your Al
