Nay,
There are so many things that i wish to say to you
There are so many things I wish to ask you
To listen to your voice as I used to when I was but a child
Nanay, you were like a grandmother-like figure in my childhood,
I can still remember the time when i was but a child,
the haircuts you gave me,
do you remember them?
The delicate trim of your scissors, cold steel
with gentle caress on my child face,
the pour of johnson's baby powder
the smell of it still lingers in my memory ever so implanted.
Do you remember the time when you went to the Simbahan?
Was it St. Joseph's? I forget the name now, however, i can never forget your dedication.
Daily, you went to church and would take me there from time to time,
Eucharistic adoration
and rosary prayers.
In the eyes of a child, i was amazed at your devotion to faith,
and impeccable devotion to the Virgin Mother.
Or the time you took us to the monastery,
clothed in my best,
i went with you to visit the monks and priests,
Nanay.
Nanay, you are older now, much older in years and yet
my mind still remembers you as my Nanay.
With your smile so soft, and eyes so brown, gentle and loving Nanay.
I have never forgotten your last message to me when I left.
You said, and I will never forget, "Ampo Kanunay"
I love you Nay.Linkback:
