I'm remember you today, Mama Luz.
Mingaw ko nimo.

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today, while thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,

That an angel came and called my name,

From His great golden throne,

Today your life on earth is past,

And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.

I do not have a picture of my Mama Luz with me, Tita.

She had the warmest brown eyes. As deep as the moon's reflection on God's wide and deep ocean at night.

A voice that comforted her young apo (at the time 5y/o pa ko) and a gentle touch that brought me to sleep.

And a taste for ginamos that she transferred to me, her apo.

Mama Luz was from Borgos, Leyte.

Someday I shall make a trekk to her home land of Southern Leyte.

I am 1/2 Leyteno. My father's entire side is from Leyte. My mother bridges me to Bohol.

Ning adto mi tanan, ikaw pood, ning adto ta sa Panglao

Ning drive man to si Uncle Roy, Uncle Roger, ug si Mommy Wella sa auto

Maka hinundum ko ning kaon ta sa pancit pero ning uwan man lagi.

Maka hinundum ko sa imung voice, ingoon ka namo (si angel, si jing jing ug ako),
"Sus marihosep, ning uwan man diay, ay, kaon nalang ta"
Mo smile ko, Mama Luz, kai maka remember ko sa imung warm voice.

My beloved Mama Luz. My father's Mommy. Mother of my Ante Beth, and Mommy Wella.

Bisan ug wa na ka diri sa yuta, naa pa man ka sa ahong puso.
