The maddening querie of the pen strokes the paper
as his jest permeates the air
a bud here, a bud there, a frank insult everywhere

A laughter that covers a plethora of reasons why
distance separates the provisions nigh
oh soft little leaves budding about recovers the reason
for his dissipated season

A column of jesters ranking his side to break and amuse
effervescent eloquence hides the demure of brooding
to laugh at substance worth denuding?
ah but to solemnly forgo the restraint, to coalesce in the night,
for anonymity pays his toll.
