sitting in catatonic gaze with arms outstretched
for hours like a centipede in open plain
basking in the sun.
but it is not the sun that you bask in, patient,
but the sound of nurses' feet, doctors' white coats fluttering,

what do you hear in that head of yours, when you show no slight emotional recoil
no sound, no reaction to even the simplest of commands.
you are alive, machines record your blood pressure,
stethoscopes actualize breath, heart, abdominal sounds,
yet you do not react.

as i come visit you from time to time, check up on you, your charts still reads the same.
