a tribute to the homeless in Chicago
-written during 'off' hours in the hospital, February 2011
==
sitting by the bridge on the corner of North Broadway idle
waiting, asking, begging,
pennies, quarters, nickle and dime
do you have some ?
hundreds of cars, presuming eyes with condescension
all for the sake of a dollar here and a dollar there
please help me, please help a needy soul
the request comes on deaf ears
the cold air surrounding deafens the frustration
where will i sleep tonight
by the street, by the shelter, by the rundown buildings
on North Halstead , on West Montrose Avenue, somewhere quiet
life is hard, life is merciless, life is a struggle
for the homeless.
will you help? Linkback:
