Hamlet's Dying Words
« on: January 21, 2011, 09:08:53 PM »

As thou'rt a man,
Give me the cup: let go; by heaven, I'll have't.
O good Horatio, what a wounded name,
Things standing thus unknown, shall live behind me!
If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart
Absent thee from felicity awhile,
And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain,
To tell my story.

.......

O, I die, Horatio;
The potent poison quite o'er-crows my spirit:
I cannot live to hear the news from England;
But I do prophesy the election lights
On Fortinbras: he has my dying voice;
So tell him, with the occurrents, more and less,
Which have solicited. The rest is silence.

?
They bore him barefaced on the bier  ;
Hey non nonny,nonny,hey nonny ;
And in his grave rain'd many a tear ;-
For bonny sweet robin is all my joy.

And will he not come again ?
And will he not come again ?
   No,no,he is dead,
   Go to thy death-bed ;
He never will come again.

His beard was as white as snow,
All flaxen was his poll ;
  He is gone,he is gone,
  And we cast away moan;
God ha' mercy on his soul!

                            Hamlet
P.S.I just happen to have a 1905 book of Great English Poet... :)

"Oh, mother mother I am sick.
Call the doctor very quick.
Doctor, doctor shall I die?
Tell my mama do not cry,
Tell my mama do not cry,
Tell my mama do not cry..."
