Fathom This Darkness
Sunset in Plaza Rizal, Tagbilaran

It takes its shape from blackbirds
                 swarming
Toward the branches, leafless in December.

And announces its coming, swirling above us,
Above posts,
   posts covering this vast sadness
         pulling its silken sheet.

It further takes its shape, in a single file,
In livewire, between a withered yellow blossom
And a pigeon standing on one leg
In the [Capitol's] eaves.

And tries to seal itself on a dead leaf
On this bench catching

Beads of rain.

Rv, the provincial government cut down many trees at Plaza Rizal. I wrote a report about it in the Bohol Chronicle and I was really mad at what they did to those decades-old pine trees at Plaza Rizal.

Until last week, part of the plaza is still covered with "saku"--with some excavation near the old fountain. I don't exactly get what they are gonna do with it.

Those excavations were already there three years ago. When I asked the GSO why they cut down the trees they said they would beautify the plaza.

Stupid government.

I see. When I heard about the cutting, I thought they will revive the pool that used to be there. When I happen to linger there sometime last week, they replaced the cypress with a miniature chocolate hills. Personally, I think, it was done in bad taste :)
