Fathom This DarknessSunset in Plaza Rizal, TagbilaranIt takes its shape from blackbirds
swarming
Toward the branches, leafless in December.
And announces its coming, swirling above us,
Above posts,
posts covering this vast sadness
pulling its silken sheet.
It further takes its shape, in a single file,
In livewire, between a withered yellow blossom
And a pigeon standing on one leg
In the [Capitol's] eaves.
And tries to seal itself on a dead leaf
On this bench catching
Beads of rain.
