The beauty of the Filipina never ceases to amaze me. There is something about their natural beauty that seems to tantalize foreign men. One example of this were Spanish soldiers. I've read countless Spanish sources on the life of Spanish officers, and church officials during the colonial epoch.
The majority of Spaniard soldiers reiterate the same consensus in their diaries. They desired the Filipina. It was very common for Spanish soldiers to marry a Filipina during his stay in the Philippines, and with that proliferated with the woman to form the 'Mestizo Espanoles' of the Philippines.
Many of these Spanish soldiers that married a Filipina were already married back in Spain, and had children with their respective wives. However, that did not stop them from taking a second Filipina wife.
When Spain lost to the United States in the Spanish-American War in 1898, the Spanish soldiers left that Philippines not only with their belongings, but many brought their wives and children along with them.
In Spain today, there is a considerable population of Spaniards that have Filipino blood. Though the Filipino blood has been diluted over the years, it still remains in Spain to this day. There are many Spaniards who claim 'Filipino' lineage. Even to this day.
The power of the Filipina woman. Captivating even the conquerors. And ultimately conquering the conquerors.
Not by the use of guns, swords, cannons. But the heart.
