Spanish Filipinos in Spain.

What is beautiful is that the Spaniards who have even the slightest drop of Filipino blood are proud to display their Filipinodad or Filipino-ness in the Spanish vernacular.

It depends, ethnically and racially, sure they may be observable. With distinct Spanish-looking facial phenotype. But now a days, Filipino is Filipino.

Gone are the days of racial divide and classed society where the Spanish peninsulare is in the top of the pyramid, the Mestizo in the middle and the Indio in the bottom, and the Chinese below the Indio.

Nowadays, many native Filipinos have improved their social standing and have proven that education and innate intellect is higher than social caste. Look at the Chinese-Filipinos, their ancestral forebears were looked down with contempt by the Spaniards as 'untrustworthy', but now, Chinese-Filipinos are the rich and wealthy elite of the Philippines.

If we look at the national heroes of the Philippines, we see an evolutionary change and outlook.

During the age of heightened Spanish influence (mid-late 19th century) the Filipino intelligentsia were nominally Spanish-Filipino mestizos or wealthy Filipino Indio families and the hybrid of Indio-Chinese-Spanish families.

An example: Marcelo Del Pilar, a prominent statesman and writer-activist who claims Spanish and Filipino Indio lineage. He grew up in the philippines, but found his home in Spain, working and collaborating with Filipino rights sympathizers in the Royal Cortes (Spanish Parliament).

Another is Andres Bonifacio. The man is credited with the founding of the KKK (Katipunan), however Andres was also a Spanish Mestizo.

Another, the most famous, is Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Who is credited to have awakened the Filipinoismo Manifesto with his works El Filibusterismo and Noli Mi Tangere. He was supported by the Katipunan and his works were greatly recieved in France, Germany, Flanders, Britain, the Americas and even in Spain. Rizal was a mestizo of Chinese, Indio and Spanish lineage.

---

In the modern age, our heroes come from all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Sure there are some who hold semblance to colonial mentality, but the notion of mestizo superiority has been greatly repudiated. Manny Pacquiao, for example is of pure Filipino Malay, but he has defeated Spanish speaking fighters time and time again. He is even known and regarded by Latin Americans as 'The Bane of Latinos'

Just my view.

With that said, the reason why I find beauty in the Filipino beauty is because Filipinos come from in different sizes, color, facial phenotype, and racial flavors. If you're into Spanish-Latin-looking Filipinos they are found, if you're into Chinese-looking Filipino beauties they can be found. If you adore the pure Malay-Filipino beauties they can be found as well.

Thats the beauty of Filipino identity. There's no one group. Filipinos are a stratified byproduct of thousands of years of racial and ethnic intermingling.

First we have the austronesian Aborigines (Aeta), then the waves of Malays, then the Indian traders, Arab traders, then the Chinese traders, then the Spaniards, the Americans, the Japanese. All in one.

The product, is Filipino.

Its where Europe and Asia combine as One.
Unique.
