The Root and Cause of the 'Filipino Miracle Worker' here in the United States.

There are thousands upon thousands of Filipino nurses in the United States, an integral part of the American Medical System. That have saved MILLIONS of American lives.

The Filipino Nurse. God Bless You All! All of You!

I took up nursing in 1995 when there was a BIG HUGE slowdown on the hiring of nurses. SO I QUIT. But my classmates who finished the course are now in many South Beach, Florida apartments.

Dang! I could only die green with envy. hhahahahahah

I am so gracious and grateful of the Nurses. My own mother is a Filipino trained Nurse, and have been working as a nurse in the US for over 18 years. To think that Mom used to be as young when she came here to the states, and enabled her to bring the entire family over here.

Even my own father, who is by trade a Professional Civil Engineer. But currently an O.R Nurse. lol. He once joked around saying, "I used to direct construction workers to build roads, canals and bridges in Saudi, now I am saving lives here. I would not trade it for the world."

This shows me the pure adaptability of Filipino Nurses. I REALLY and TRULY admire our Filipino Nurses.

I always am amazed that so many of the Filipino Engineers end up taking up nursing courses when they arrive here. Its just such a lucrative profession.

My cousin is dying to come here.  She already passed her exams including English proficiency, NCLEX, and all, but the opportunity is still not there.  I wish she can find a job here in California so we are just gonna be closer.  Eventually pohon, my youngest sister can join her too.

California is good, did she consider getting jobs in the East Coast or in the Midwest, 'te?

Theres alot of vacancies in Minnesota, Nebraska, N&S Dakota, Tennessee, Kentucky area, alot in Texas and in the South.

Mostly the West Coast and Northeast mid-atlantic are already saturated, but the midwest and south are in dire need. Mas daghang and opportunities there as well.

Dong, she is considering any part of the USA but we are still asking around sa mga nurses here how she can come here - that is if she needs to have an agency back in the Philippines to process her papers, etc.

'te my friend's sister moved from New Jersey to Alabama last year. Both she and her boy friend are both nurses and they left for Alabama because of the lucrative sign on bonuses there.

There are hospitals in the south that are recruiting nurses to come down south; sign-on-bonus of $15,000. And a starting salary position of $60,000. This is for staff RNs. This is for a regular 40 hour week position, it is possible to over time and double that income.

Alot of nurses in the north east are actually going south due to the lucrative positions there, lack of competition, and the lower cost of living in the south. As well as greater job opportunities.

Your cousin and sister should consider it as well. Ang important thing is that they come here. Diba?

This is a popular agency in the Medical Forum that I am part of.

Maybe she can try to talk to them.

Best of luck to your sister and cousin!

Oi, thanks a lot ninyo jud!  I appreciate your help.  Cara, my cousin, has been restless kay gusto na nya maka work.  I believe that God has His own perfect timing and hopefully with all your help, maka lead na ni for Cara and later sa akong sister to find a job here.  They are both very dedicated workers so di jud ko maulaw mag trabaho sila dire.

There is always a time and a way for them, 'te. It is important to wait.

Sometimes it takes a couple of years. But when it happens, it happens.

Critical to this is the waiting process.

Dong, you are right.  It takes time and it happens, there's no stopping na.  For now, they just have to continue doing volunteer works to add their experience.

Maring, maayo unta diha sa Michigan so I can "appoint" you as their surrogate Ate!  :D

'te make sure your sister doesn't have a boyfriend ha? Ang importante is that she focuses jud on the application process, examinations and coming here.

There is so so much time and opportunity for barkada-barkada and boys when she gets here. Who knows she might even marry a Doc! LOL.

My best wishes for her jud! All the best!

Dong, you met Cara, our cousin kay she's also a member of TB though inactive now.  Lumine used to be her babysitter when she was still a baby while Lumine was studying college.

Our youngest sister, Terter, she's also a very focused woman.  She'll drop every chance of party just so she can study. That's how serious she is in her studies.  That's actually her second college course.  She first graduated Business Administration and after that she proceeded Nursing.
