GOOD NEWS: LIGHT STATION SURIGAO, NOW OPERATIONAL

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Surigao del Norte has announced that the Light Station Surigao, also known as FAROLA, is operational as of 24 May 2021. It is located at Barangay Taft, Port Area, Surigao City.
The FAROLA serves as a navigational aid for mariners and fishermen, especially at night. It also guides vessels in safely entering and leaving harbors.
The Light Station Surigao has light characteristics of flashing two red lights every 10 seconds with the following coordinates – LAT 09° 47’ 01’’ North and LONG 125° 30’ 05” East.
PCG Station Surigao del Norte Commander, Commander Elaine Pangilinan warned the public that unauthorized persons are strictly prohibited from entering the premises of said light station.
“This is to ensure the safety of the public from untoward accidents and protect the structure from damages,” Commander Pangilinan explained.
For sightings of unauthorized persons trying to enter the premises of the light station, concerned citizens are encouraged to coordinate with the PCG Station Surigao del Norte using any of the following contact details: 0951-807-0127, 0916-185-3901, or 826-9802.
“Violators will face the consequences of their actions. Hence, the cooperation of all stakeholders is highly requested,” Commander Pangilinan said.
