At least 79 additional shelter units were completed and were officially turned over to the local government unit (LGU) early this week at Poona Piagapo town in Lanao del Norte.
These were in addition to the 35 shelter units that were turned over early this month to the LGU in Kauswagan town of that same province.
The new completed shelter units in Poona Piagapo were formally turned over by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officials.
The shelter units were located in barangays Tangclao, Nunungan, Maliwanag and Piangamangaan, all of Poona Piagapo town.
Region 10 DSWD regional director Atty. Araceli F. Solamillio said the units provided were under the Modified Shelter Assistance Project crafted in the Indicative Rehabilitation Plan prepared by the DSWD and the local government of Poona Piagapo.
The region’s social welfare chief said the project reached more than P5 million with counterpart of P1 million by the local government.
Some of those beneficiaries of the project were especially intended to those families affected by the conflict that erupted last August 18.
Poona Piagapo Mayor Saripada Yusoph was almost in tears as he also expressed the predicament and fear the families had to go through when the war erupted.- PNA
