The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday announced that high school and college students are invited to take part in the record breaking event called "A Big Thank You to Our Teachers," this October 23, 2008, Thursday, at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia from 12:30 to 3:00pm.
Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said that students from all over the Philippines will be writing words of appreciation for their teachers on pieces of cloth that will be sewn together to produce a gigantic Thank You Teacher banner.
This grand event, the education chief said that will be the largest declaration of love and gratitude to teachers is an attempt to win entry to the Guinness Book of World Records.
This October 2008, a Teacher's Month Campaign has been organized by De La Salle
Philippines, Metrobank Foundation, Philippine Business for Education, Campaigns Social Response and the Department of Education for the growth and development of the teaching vocation in the country.
The period of October 22-26 is the annual five-day break in elementary and secondary public schools.
The Teacher's Month celebration continues to the Manila Hotel where the Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators or NOTED of the Metrobank Foundation will be having their 2nd National Tri-Level Conference of Teachers and Educators.
A special ceremony will be conducted by student leaders for the teachers present during the conference. This will culminate with the presentation of the long banner prepared by the different schools.
