Do you know that the muscovado industry in my home province of #Antique dates back as early as the 18th century and it is the province’s biggest industry?
That’s why as a staunch advocate for #msmes development, I always ensure to give the much-needed support to organizations like the Laua-an Multi Purpose Cooperative (LMPC) of Laua-an town which is home to the most modern muscovado processing plant in the whole of Panay.
Through the DTI’s Shared Service Facilities (SSF), we were able to provide for them packaging equipment and market exposure by inviting them to different national fairs like the Department Of Trade And Industry ‘s National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) and the Philippine Harvest organized by the Department of Tourism - Philippines.
Named after the town’s yearly festivity, LMPC produces the ‘PAHINIS’ muscovado sugar brand - the banner product of Antique. With continued support, we can be confident that our #sugarfarmers are able to continue their livelihood which have been passed on to them by their forefathers, and more importantly, meet their needs especially during these difficult times.
