Frozen boxed pork meat products of Matutum Meat Packaging Corp. (MMPC) will soon be exported to Singapore after the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority gave its go signal for South Cotabato's meat-packing company to start exporting pork to Singapore.
Dr. Emilio Escobillo Jr., president of the South Cotabato Swine Producers Association, said Socospa is targeting to capture about 25 percent of Singapore's demand for pork meat products. However, he added that they would see to it that this would not affect the domestic market.
According to Escobillo, swine producers in Socksargen used to have live shipment to Manila of about 24,000 hogs per month but now the shipment has reduced to about 10,000 hogs per month.
