Four members of the Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association (IPPCA) has announced of rolling back the prices of their petroleum products early morning Wednesday.
Eastern Petroleum, Flying V, Unioil Philippines and Seaoil Philippines said that they will reduce by P1.00 per liter the prices of their gasoline, kerosene and diesel.
Both Eastern Petroleum, Unioil and Flying V said it will start the rollback by 12:01 a.m. of Wednesday while Seaoil said their price reduction will start at 6am that same day.
Independent oil players said the rollback is to reflect the continued “softening of the prices in the international marketâ€.
Major oil players, namely Petron Coporation, Shell and Chevron Philippines has not made any annoucement yet of imposing rollback.
This is the fifth rollback implemented by oil companies with the latest last Thursday where they slashed their prices by P1.00 per liter.
Earlier, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes said that there will be more reductions in the prices of the petroleum products as a result of the continuing drop in the world prices.
As of September 2, 2008, monitoring conducted by the Department of Energy (DoE) indicated that Dubai crude dropped by US$ 111.55 per barrel lower than the US$ 112.86 per barrel average for the month of August and the US$ 131.27 average for the month of July.
On the other hand, MOPS for unleaded gasoline as of September 2, inched to US$ 118.65 per barrel, higher than the August average of US$ 115.49 per barrel.
MOPS for diesel likewise posted drop for September with US$ 133.25 per barrel as compared to the August average of US$ 135.26 per barrel and the July average of US$ 168.01 per barrel.
As of August 29, pump prices of unleaded gasoline range between P54.50 to P58.26; kerosene at P56.36 to P59.80; diesel between P52.20 to P54.09. PNA
