Spanish Ambassador Jorge Sanchez, USec Reynaldo Mapago of the Department of and National Defense, Rene Escalante of the Historical Commission of the Philippines, Guiuan Mayor Analiz Kwan, and Punong Barangay Edgar Loyola unveiled a historical marker in Suluan Isle, Guiuan, E. Samar to mark the barangay as the first isle the El Cano Magellan expedition spotted though there was no interaction.
