DID YOU KNOW?
AGTAS ARE THE FIRST "BISAYA" PEOPLE

Hundreds of years before the Spaniards came to the Philippines, there was a Bornean Datu named "Datu Puti."

Datu Puti led 10 Bornean Datus from Borneo and Sumatra in a rebellion against Rajah Makatunao who was a Chola appointed local Rajah who said to retinue and revive Srivijaya in a new country called "Madja-as" (experts agreed that "Madja-as" was "Pannai" now Panay island) in the Visayas during the Srivijayan influence in 1082AD in southeast Asia.

Although the Datus have never met Rajah Makatunao upon their arrival on the island (until they left leaving with some Datus), however, they were welcomed by the natives in Pannai, these natives were called "Atis" or "Agtas". The Atis people were not at all the original people of Negrito or Aeta type (although some historians said they were closely related), Atis were tall people and dark-skinned Austronesian type.

Atis were rich people, who lived in villages of fairly well-constructed houses, they possessed, gold, drums, and other musical instruments, as well as a variety of weapons and personal adornments, which were much superior to those known among the Negritos.

Atis`s precious possessions include gold beads so long that they touched the ground when worn and, second, a salakot, or native hat covered with gold.

The Atis were the ones who referred to the Borneans as "Bisaya," which some historians would interpret as the Atis` way of distinguishing themselves from the white settlers.

Even during the earlier part of Spanish colonialization, the Spaniards used the term Visayan only for these areas.

Only in the latter part, the name Visayan was extended to the whole central region because, as several of the early writers state (especially in the writings of the Jesuit Lorenzo Hervás y Panduro published in 1801) that their languages are closely allied to the Visayan dialect of Panay.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
