'ANO SIYA, HILO?'
Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa questioned the recent push by International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan for the tribunal to proceed with the probe into the Duterte administration's drug war.
Dela Rosa claimed that the Philippines was no longer a member of the ICC. "Bakit siya mag-insist? He is not a part of the Philippine government," Dela Rosa said.
Khan rejected the Philippine government's call to stop the resumption of the ICC investigation into the war on drugs because of the tribunal's supposed lack of jurisdiction and the gravity of the alleged crimes.
In a 21-page response dated September 22, Khan said that "none of those arguments have merit."
"There is no provision in the Statute for a State to challenge the resumption of an investigation on jurisdictional or gravity grounds at this stage of proceedings," the prosecutor wrote.
