Palaui Island
This island is located off the northwest coast of Barangay San Vicente, Santa Ana in the Province of Cagayan. It stretches for 10 kilometers at its longest point and 5 kilometers at its widest point.
On August 28, 1994, Palaui Island was selected as a National Marine Reserve, covering an area of 7,145 hectares. The seas surrounding the island are home to 21 commercial fish species and presence of about 50 hectares of unspoiled coral. Moreover, a total of 105 species of rattan, 25 imported shrubs and 90 migratory birds are found in the island.
Northern Luzon Command, AFP through the Naval Forces Northern Luzon successfully constructed the sovereign marker on March 24, 2021 in an area visible to vessels transiting in the country’s northern maritime territory.
