Ombudsman leads Anti-Corruption Day
07 December 2012

The Office of the Ombudsman spearheads the observance of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2012 with a rally dubbed as “March To Righteousness” at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

With the theme, Katiwalian Wakasan! Tuloy ang Laban!, the march will be held from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. simultaneously in Quezon City, Cebu City and Davao City.

In Quezon City, the march will start from the Ombudsman Building along Agham Road, pass through North Avenue, and end at the QC Memorial Circle where a concluding program shall be held.

During the program, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales will deliver the keynote address, preceded by a pledge by all the multi-sectoral stakeholders and youth representatives during the Panunumpa ng Mamamayang Pilipino Laban sa Katiwalian.

CSC Chairman Francisco Duque III will lead in the Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan while United Nations Resident Coordinator Luiza Carvalho will give an overview of the event.

To be flashed on two LED screens during the program will be “Shine The Light On Corruption,” a 45-second anti-corruption TV spot courtesy of the Hills Program on Governance of the Asian Institute of Management and the Center for International Private Enterprise.

The respective bands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-GHQ, Philippine Marine Corps and Philippine National Police have been invited to perform in this event that expects to gather around 10,000 participants.

All government agencies, state universities and colleges in the National Capital Region have been officially enjoined by the Office of the President and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to participate in the celebration. Also invited are the civil society organizations, professionals, and religious groups including Muslims and other non-Christian denominations.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
