House Bill No. 7059, aiming to extend the implementation of the lifeline rates for electricity consumers, is already approved by the House Committee on Energy on September 17.
The lifeline rate aims to support low-income power consumers through a subsidized electricity rate.
Now more than ever, as the country faces economic setbacks due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, low-income consumers need continous relief and assistance to enable them to access electricity and uplift their lives. With the nearing expiration of the lifeline rate, HB 7059 seeks to extend the subsidy for an additional 20 years or until 2041.
HB 7059 is principally authored by the four #PowerBloc Representatives from APEC Party-list, Philreca Partylist, Recoboda Partylist, and Ako Padayon Pilipino Partylist.
