Press Release: AFP Chief joins ground-breaking ceremony of Housing Projects for Former Rebels, IPs in Zamboanga Del Norte
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) General Cirilito Sobejana graced the ground-breaking ceremony of 200 housing units for former rebels and indigenous people in Godod, Zamboanga del Norte on Monday, May 31.
“This activity is a big step towards liberating our constituents from the grips of deception, treachery and violence of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). It is a strong reminder that the government will always do its best to support and assist our fellow Filipinos who lost their way, gave up on their violent struggle, and now want to live a peaceful and normal life,” General Sobejana said.
The housing project is a joint effort between the AFP; Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) – ZDN headed by Governor Roberto Uy; Municipal Task Force – ELCAC Godod headed by Mayor Abel Matildo; National Housing Authority headed by Engineer Clemente Dayot; and other partner agencies.
Of the 200 NHA housing units, 100 will be awarded to former CTG members while the remaining 100 will be granted to internally displaced Subanen/Kalibugan IPs.
