MGB XI Joins DPWH Orientation on Environmental Requirements and Online Processes for National Expenditure Program 2025
Geologist Leandrew Floyd Arceo and Mining Engineer Jenny Rose Selmaro represented the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region XI (MGB XI) during the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) Orientation and Guidance on Environmental and Other Related Requirements and Online Process for DPWH Convergence Projects under NEP 2025. This initiative aligns with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' (DENR) regulations to ensure compliance and promote sustainable practices in public infrastructure projects.
Geol. Arceo highlighted the significance of Geohazard Certification and Geological Site Scoping, emphasizing the need for these processes to ensure the safety and suitability of project sites. He also detailed the specific requirements for obtaining these certifications, which are crucial for mitigating potential risks such as landslides, flooding, and soil erosion.
Meanwhile, Engr. Selmaro provided a comprehensive discussion on Mining-Related Laws, Rules, and Regulations. Her presentation highlighted the importance of adhering to these guidelines to maintain environmental protection and promote responsible resource utilization during project development.
The orientation served as a platform for fostering collaboration between MGB XI and DPWH, as both agencies play critical roles in balancing infrastructure development with environmental preservation. It is important to note that collaboration among government agencies and stakeholders is essential in achieving these goals and in ensuring that the general public benefits from safe and sustainable projects.
MGB XI reaffirms its commitment to providing technical assistance and guidance to its partners. The Bureau is always ready to extend its expertise to support compliance with environmental standards and to advocate for responsible development practices across Region XI.
