DBM Sec Mina Pangandaman: Gov’t JO/COS workers to receive higher Gratuity Pay this December; Lauds PBBM’s approval of AO authorizing grant of higher pay

From P5,000, contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) workers in government shall now receive P7,000 gratuity pay not earlier than 15 December 2024.

This was announced by Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, following the approval of President Bongbong Marcos of the issuance of Administrative Order (AO) No. 28, authorizing the grant of increased Gratuity Pay to COS and JOs in government for FY 2024.

According to the AO, JOs and COS employees who have rendered a total or an aggregate of at least four (4) months of actual satisfactory service performance as of December 15, 2024, and whose contracts are still effective as of the same date, are entitled to receive Gratuity Pay.

"The last increase in the Gratuity Pay rate happened way back in 2021, kung saan tinaasan po ito from P3,000 to P5,000. Kaya nagpapasalamat po tayo kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos because under his term, we will be increasing the Gratuity Pay for qualified COS and JO workers in government from P5,000 to P7,000,” Sec. Mina said.

“Malaking bagay po ito. Isa po sa isinaalang-alang natin dito 'yung pagtulong sa ating mga manggagawa, lalo’t magpapasko po at sunud-sunod 'yung nangyaring kalamidad sa bansa ngayong taon," the DBM Secretary added.

“Hindi po natin pababayaan ang ating mga COS at JO personnel dahil malaki rin po ang ambag nila sa ating bansa. Hindi po matatawaran ang serbisyo nila sa publiko. Ayaw po natin na maging empty handed sila ngayong Pasko at Bagong Taon,” Sec. Mina said.

Those who have rendered less than 4 months of satisfactory performance as of December 15 may still be granted the FY 2024 Gratuity Pay on a pro-rata basis. For COS/JO workers whose length of service is three (3) months but less than 4 months, they shall receive a Gratuity Pay not exceeding P6,000. Meanwhile, those who have rendered two (2) months but less than 3 months of service shall receive not exceeding P5,000, while those who have served less than 2 months shall receive not exceeding P4,000.
