This was the message of Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr, National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF COVID-19) chief implementer and vaccine czar during a meeting on Monday, June 21, between Israeli health experts and COVID-19 task force officials.
“Israel has shown that the battle against COVID-19 can only be won through a collective effort. We can succeed if nations help each other and work together. This is the power of unity and cooperation,” Galvez stressed.
“It is our hope that through our discussions in the coming days, we would be able to learn from the Israeli experience and apply these lessons in our battle against the pandemic, particularly on how we can further improve our vaccine deployment strategies,” he added.
During the meeting, the Israeli experts shared the COVID-19 prevention, mitigation and vaccination efforts they have carried out in their country, specifically their vaccine deployment strategy which has enabled the government to fully open the economy.
Last April, the Israeli government lifted its indoor mask wearing policy policy, which was an indication that the country had already effectively managed its COVID-19 cases.
The Israeli delegation was composed of Mr. Avi Ben Zaken, Deputy director general of the Ichilov Medical Center; Ms. Dafna Segol, consultant of Healthcare Policy and Innovation; and Mr. Adam Segal, logistics and operations manager of Salomon Levid & Elstein Ltd.
Meanwhile, the Philippine government was also represented by IATF Chairperson Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, NTF COVID-19 Chairperson Defense Secretary Delfin Lorezana, and NTF COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vivencio Dizon.
