𝗕𝗢𝗖 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗵𝗽 𝟭 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗶
Through its enhanced anti-counterfeit efforts, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) on June 14, 2021 seized various items in an operation conducted in Magallanes, Makati city.
The operation was conducted by a composite team from BOC's Intelligence Group Intellectual Property Rights Division(IG-IPRD) in coordination with Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Port of Manila District Office as well as members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) signed by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the team inspected the storage facility and discovered the presence of various trademarked items such as LACOSTE, MICHAEL KORS, MACBETH, ADIDAS, CHANEL, GIVENCHY, OXYGEN, GUESS, COACH, GUCCI, WRANGLER, FUBU, ZARA, REEBOK, LEVI'S, HILFIGER, JAG, TRIBAL, BENCH, CALVIN KLEIN, and ESPRIT. The items were estimated to have a market value of Php 1 Billion.
Further investigation is underway for possible violation of Section 118 (f) of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and RA 8293 also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (IPCP).
Just recently BOC under Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero was recognized by French Luxury Brand Louis Vuitton for the Bureau's successful operations against counterfeit goods under its mandate on border security.
