PNP WELCOMES 13 MORE CPP-NPA SURRENDEREES
Press Release: On the very day of the 52nd anniversary the communist New People’s Army, 13 active red fighters surrendered to government security forces in South Cotabato.
Police General Debold M Sinas, Chief PNP said that 13 CPP-NPA red fighters surrendered with their firearms to the team of 1st & 2nd South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company during the conduct of Internal Security Operations and outreach program at the boundaries of Tampakan and Banga municipalities and rural area of Koronadal City in South Cotabato province this morning.
A certain alias Jeff approached the team and expressed desire to surrender to the authorities together with 12 others who are members of Guerilla Fronts 72 and 73 operating in the area of South Cotabato.
Immediately, the police conduct initial evaluation, validation and facilitated the surrender of the CPP-NPA rebels identified as alias JEFF, Team Leader Guerilla Front 73-MUSA; his members alias GANI/NOEL; alias KATHY, Squad 1, Team Leader; alias WAWAY; alias BULDOG; alias ROMANO; alias WARREN; alias ALEX; alias MARJUN; alias FANOK; alias ATAM; and members of Guerilla Front 7, alias WAWA; and alias TATAY BEN.
The group turned-in the following firearms to the police during their surrender:
One (1) unit M16A1 Elisco cal.5.56 armalite rifle without Serial Nr;
One (1) unit M1 Springfield Armory Garand rifle SN 1519949;
One(1) unit Carbine Rock Ola Rifle SN 1712390;
One (1) Unit UZI Sub-machinegun
One unit Command Detonated Explosive (CDEX) IED;
Five IEDs and components;
One magazine for carbine rifle.
30 rounds of ammunition for cal. 5.56
Two magazines for M16 rifle; and
CPP-NPA flags.
PRO 12 under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Michael John F Dubria together with the law enforcement counterparts had been gaining from the series of both law enforcement and combat operations by advocating peaceful means to end the terroristic acts of the CNTs. Equipped with Executive Order No. 70, Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC).
"The counter-white area operations as one of the activities under ELCAC, aims to persuade individuals who are affiliated with Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to surrender and avail of the government’s program under E-CLIP, or the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, to give them another chance, and to re-integrate them into the mainstream society" Sinas said.
Sinas also added that CTG units in the area were continuously weakening as some of their leaders are returning to the fold of the law.
