OIC of the Office of the Press Secretary
Veteran journalist and lawyer Atty. Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil resigned as the chief of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to become the temporary head of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).
Garafil also worked for the Dept. of Justice and was the media chief for then-House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. She also worked with Marcos during the vice presidential campaign.
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he will be announcing his pick for the next press secretary early next week. Trixie Cruz-Angeles resigned on Tuesday, citing health reasons. She was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments last week and was not able to secure a fresh nomination from the president.
Marcos said he is looking for a media practitioner for the post. Three former media men--former press secretary Mike Toledo, Transport Usec. Cesar Chavez, and former Cavite Rep. Gilbert Remulla--are also reportedly being eyed for the post.
