Former rebel received by government authorities in Maitum

MAITUM, Sarangani (September 1, 2020) - A member of the New People's Army yields with his firearm to Mayor Alexander Bryan Reganit (2nd from right) at JLC Hall on August 26 after surrendering to the Charlie Company headed by Capt. Dorcesimo R. Cuyag Jr. (2nd from left) of 37th Infantry Battalion. Also in photo are battalion commander LTC. The 24-year old former rebel received P5,000 cash and a sack of rice from the Local Government Unit of Maitum. Mayor Reganit also commended Cpt. Cuyag together with his company for the firm support to the implementation of President Rodrigo Duterte's Executive Order No. 70, which institutionalized the “whole-of-nation" approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, creating a national task force to end local communist armed conflict, and directing the adoption of a national peace framework.
