The string of gigs here and abroad in just barely a year, the
Loboc Youth Ambassador band has fast gained a celebrity status in the live entertainment industry.
Just a year ago, this group of students from various elementary and high schools in Loboc composing the band could hardly play any musical instrument.
Under the innovative training of Rene Balbin, the band’s training director and conductor, these students have been transformed into a musical group who can really play a repertoire of classical music, Broadway hits, and local folk songs.
Now, the Loboc Youth Ambassador band is performing live every Friday and Saturday evening at the Loboc Children’s Theatre.
On invitation, the band also performs on weddings, graduations, motorcades, birthdays, fiestas, anniversaries, parties, and other social events.
Last October 14, the Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band, fresh from its concert tour in China, presented a special show for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her Cabinet at the Malacañang Palace.
The Loboc Youth Education Association, Inc. (LYEA) is a non-government organization, organized and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2004.
Its officers are Argeo Melisimo as president, Engr. Isidro Digal as vice president, Raymond Cal as treasurer, Manuelito Varquez as secretary; and Mayor Leon Calipusan, Lawyer Eladio Jala, and Antonio Acuna Jr. as directors; while Balbin serves as executive and training director.
LYEA aims, among others, to promote, develop and train the youth in the art of music and in the use of musical instruments; and establish, maintain and operate a school of music in Loboc.
