CAROLINIANS - BOHOL CHAPTER
« on: July 31, 2007, 01:23:26 AM »

Having been an alumnus of the University of San Carlos had added value to my quest for success and am sure that this is also true to my fellow Bol-anons who hailed from the same alma mater.

Though coming from a reputable school or university does not guarantee success but it has an edge over the rest when taken categorically.

As I haven't heard of a Carolinian ( USC Alumni Asso. ) in Bohol like in other provinces and cities abroad, am urging fellow Carolinians to start the fire in creating a venue for camaraderie and for creating a noble vision not only for our school but to the community we live in.

Jun,

Akong mama is a Carolinian scholar. They were the first batch for Major in Home Economics.

Your idea of a reunion for Boholano Carolinians is a good one. This would be a first one in Bohol if realized.

It's too early yet to talk about reunion... but it is nice to start with a group  that has common denominator, by then, we have to think BIG....

As what I've heard adto na sila sa restobars mag negotiate...

But one thing for sure sa USC, she is the home of the best...(halos lahat ng category) students.

what is good with the guys in the TC campus, they're really intelligent compared with other colleges kay ang requirements sa entrance test o qualifying exams should not be below 90% unlike the rest 50* okay lang.

Outstanding Carolinians - Naa bay taga Bohol naapil?
« Reply #53 on: August 22, 2007, 08:22:53 AM »
In relation to this topic thread:

Seven of this year’s eight Most Outstanding Alumni Awardees were feted by Carolinians Inc., the alumni association of all USC graduates, as hundreds of other alumni from various places in the country and abroad---including a large delegation from the Carolinians of Surigao, Inc. and Carolinians Midwest USA---came to attend the 2007 USC Grand Alumni Homecoming.

The seven were Philip Ngai Tan (B.S. in Business Administration) for entrepreneurship; Archt. Socorro B. Atega (B.S in Architecture, Magna cum laude) for landscape architecture; Judge Marilyn L. Yap (Bachelor of Laws), for law and justice; Dir. Prudenciana C. Cruz (B.S.E. major in Library Science) for library science; Engr. Ernesto Codina (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering) for aeronautics and space flight engineering; Arlene Donaire (A.B. in Economics) for environmental advocacy; and Arnulfo Ramos (M.A. in History) for community service. Also awarded but failed to attend the event was Dr. Vermen Verallo-Rowell (Pre-Medicine) for dermatology.

Prior to the homecoming, various colleges conducted alumni congresses in different venues of the University's four campuses between 1:30 and 3:30 to bring together graduates of the University and the academic community.

The Grand Homecoming, with the theme “Carolinians: Crossing Borders, Coming Home”, opened with the traditional Holy Mass at 3:30 at the Church of St. Arnold and St. Joseph. The dark clouds and brief downpour failed to dampen everyone's spirits as the gathering proceeded in earnest at the lobby and concourse of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts.

Fr. Pres. Roderick C. Salazar, Jr., SVD, in a brief opening statement, exhorted the alumni to be witnesses to the Word even as he explained the beautifully crafted theme of this year's USC Foundation Week, "Beyond Borders, Within Worlds: Witness to the Word, USC's Corporate Social Responsibility".

The annual homecoming traditionally kicks off the first day of USC Foundation Week, which marks the time when four Jesuit priests and a lay brother opened the oldest school in the Philippines and USC's precursor, the Colegio de San Ildefonso, on August 21, 1595 in Cebu.

As in previous years, a fireworks display wowed the alumni even as fanfare and celebrations of noble achievements by Carolinians ensued. A unique feature of this year’s reunion was the special request for all alumni to attend wearing their best pair of jeans. The cover and signage of the homecoming were also a fresh departure from the usual formalized designs that marked most of the homecoming souvenir programs in the past.

Thanks Mike for updating...

On the list of Outstanding Carolinians, two were my batch mates ( even class mates ), Philip Tan and Marilyn Yap.  Last year, there was one.  None was a Boholano....

There was an idea to have my nomination when I was considered to the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals Overseas nominees last year for OFWs in Saudi Arabia  ( but did not have time to give focus in the preparation, besides a more appropriate time will come ).

By then, a Boholano candidate is on the making... next year may be a year for us.. with God's blessings..

glad to acknowledge newcomers to this thread...ang akong pangandoy nga through this forum duna tay contingent sa coming nga Foundation o University Day celebrations sa USC nga gitawag og Carolinian Inc. - Bohol Chapter.

Palihog padayon og sulti o honghong sa uban nga graduates sa USC.  Proud baya ta nga taas ang rating karon sa USC compared to Dela Salle & Ateneo for last year's Philippines' Top Universities.

Cheers to Carolinians!

Bol-anon Ko, thanks for your interest... certainly am counting you to be part of the group.  It's nice to be with people who have the same passion... through outsourcing we could help a lot of people.  It is not only helping we can bring that change by embedding "quality" to them thereby having that "world-class concept" infectious to them.  Should you have special concerns, you could send PM to me. Looking forward to hear from you and would appreciate if you could define your areas of priorities...

Fellow Carolinians nga Bol-anon, could we organize a contingent for this year's USC University/Foundation Day? just like other provincial chapters who participated in previous years' celebration?  Please indicate your name, so we could reach you for any plan.... Thanks.

In previous years, University Foundation Day celebrations were attended with contingents notably by alumni groups from Surigao and those based in the USA... because of our proximity to Cebu.... how nice to have participation from Bohol....

Hello Fellow Carolinians in Bohol,

I've revisited this thread with the hope that we could reactivate discussions en route to our plan of organizing Carolinian Alumni Bohol Chapter especially that I will be home soon and will certainly spend time in actualizing this dream for a noble purpose to Bol-anons.
