The Banikanhong Haranista sa Bohol (BHB) celebrated its 28th anniversary last July 2008 since it was organized in July 1980 through a simple but fitting commemoration attended by officers and members.

Banikanhong Haranista topped as bared through a simple survey, telephone long distance calls and text messages of listeners from within the Philippines and abroad especially from Boholanos in the United States of America as DYRD is already heard very loud and clear worldwide through the website www.dyrdam.com.

Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim and Kagawad Danilo Bantugan, Chairman of the City Council for Culture and Arts (CCCA), are strongly supporting the BHB.  It is aired every Sunday, 10 to 11 p.m. over station DYRD and hooked up by sister station DYZD in Ubay town.

The BHB harana include Bisayan Pilipino, English and Spanish in varied tempo.  This is a revival of old favorite songs which have almost faded away in this modern time.  Also featured by the BHB performances are Bisayan poems or balak, kundiman, balitaw and instrumental renditions using Etong’s bandolino and Dodong’s magic guitar.

For the current year, BHB will have its special project, the Christmas Carolling in December.  The proceeds will be donated to the indigent patients of Gov. Gallares Hospital through the Tagbilaran By Night (TBN) program aired from 9:30 – 11:00 in the evening, Monday to Saturday over DYRD and DYZD with Jerry Pabe as anchorman, also a member of BHB.  The BHB president, Eng’r. Maurito Lim is also the TBN president.

The BHB has also its re-engineering scheme considering the 16 members.  That is, retaining only the top 10 singers who became champions in previous song competitions.  The selection will be conducted by the program director, chairman of the screening committee.  This will take effect January 1, 2009 per memorandum of the BHB president.
