Jose “Joe†Q. Pernia passed away at 3 a.m. today at the Ramiro Hospital, this city. He was supposed to celebrate his 88th birthday on Tuesday.
Pernia served as division chief of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) central offices in Manila. He was one of the pioneer members of the Bohol Jaycees and a member of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP).
He is survived by his wife, Fe Lopez Pernia and children Linda-Gil, Tessie, Luchi-Paul, Gigi-Lynne, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, Modesto and sister Charing Pernia Dejaresco. His remains lie in state at Funeraria Gomez. Interment will be announced later.
