Farewell Atty Juanito Cambangay of Bohol Capitol
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:50:05 PM »
By June S. Blanco

Bohol Capitol workers will bid Sir Nitz goodbye tomorrow – for the last time.

The remains of lawyer Juanito Cambangay, retired provincial planning and development coordinator and lately, Gov. Erico Aumentado’s consultant on Official Development Assistance (ODA) and International Relations will be transferred to the Governor’s Office Azotea at the Capitol for public viewing before his interment in the afternoon.

Cambangay – “‘Bay Nito” to the governor and “Sir Nitz” to many – died January 12. He retired on turning 60 years old only last August 21.

The necrological program will start shortly after his arrival at around 9 a.m.

Eulogies will be delivered by Engr. Noel Mendaña and Eduardo Macalandag, planning officers of Tubigon town and Tagbilaran City, respectively, on behalf of the League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators (LLPDC), Partnership Adviser Rosalinda Paredes of the Local Governance of Development Program (LGDP); lawyer John Titus Vistal, OIC, Provincial Planning and Development Office; Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera and Gov. Erico Aumentado.

Mendaña and Macalandag, as well as Herrera will also present Cambangay’s survivors – his wife Helen and two sons – with resolutions from the LLPDC and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The Capitol Choir will render memorial service songs while son Josef Michael, an architect, will deliver the response from the family.

At 2 p.m., the body will again be transferred to the Saint Joseph Cathedral for the requiem mass. Interment will follow at the Victoria Memorial Park in Booy, District, Tagbilaran City .

As ODA consultant, Cambangay would have headed the donor coordination unit to handle partnerships with ODA agencies, between and among local government units (LGUs) and other partners of the provincial government.

Some of these partnerships were formed at the start of the implementation of the Local Government Code of 1991, but were expanded and enhanced even as new ones were forged under LGDP.

In his presentation at the LGDP closing and handover ceremony January 16 at the Discovery Suites in Pasig City , Aumentado gave tribute to Cambangay, saying he was one of the pillars of Bohol ’s development.
