Former Provincial Planning and Development Officer Juanito Cambangay passed away at 9:45 a.m. yesterday. He was 60.
He was on his daily exercise when he collapsed inside his residence Uptown, Ubujan this city, before he was rushed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ramiro Hospital due to cardio pulmonary arrest.
Cambangay who was also a lawyer retired last year as PPDO of the provincial government having served four governors, Constancio Torralba, David Tirol, Rene Relampagos and Erico Aumentado.
“His demise creates a big vacuum at the Capitol, being a trusted and reliable development officer,†commented Gov. Aumentado who was shocked to learn of Cambangay’s demise. He was even rehired by the governor as consultant after he retired last year.
He was a product of land use planning development and masters in management when he joined the government, aside from being a lawyer.
Among his sterling achievements at the provincial government was his formulation of an integrated economic, social, physical plans and policies while he was designated the first head of the Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO).
He is survived by wife, Helen Bompat Cambangay and sons, John Kaiser Eladio and Josef Michael.
His remains lie in state at Funeraria Gomez and will be transferred to his residence. His remains will be brought to the Capitol a day before his burial. Date will be announced later.
