Press Release - SENIOR CITIZEN PARTY-LIST JOINS FILIPINO CATHOLICS IN MARKING WORLD DAY OF GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY

I join all Filipino Catholics in marking the first World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly to be observed by Catholics worldwide on July 25, 2021, the fourth Sunday of that month and coincidentally the day before the Philippines’ 18th Congress reopens its third and last regular session.

First, I express my deepest sympathies with the entire nation mourning on the passing of every senior citizen and all the people who succumbed to COVID-19 and other illnesses. I pray for the recovery of all who were infected by the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Our faith in Almighty God and resulting love we share as families, friends, and neighbors have been our sure refuge in these times of great trials.

I hope everyone gets fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 soon so we can go on living as close to normal lives as possible.

I urge everyone to keep praying for healing and deliverance from the COVID-19 scourge and the suffering in its wake.

Let us remember the love and sacrifices our grandparents and elderly. Let us recall the good times and their legacy to each one of use.

Let us also pray for the grandparents and elderly who suffer alone and in silence. By faith, we trust God is with them and will wipe away their tears and pain.

May we all learn the many lessons this dark chapter indelibly marks in our memory and hearts.

We look forward to the days after we have survived COVID-19 by the grace of God. (END)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
