Some 14000 hectares of banana plantations, about 18% of the country's total, have been destroyed by typhoon Pablo in Mindanao. Stephen Antig, executive director of the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association, says this means growers lost an equivalent of 42 million boxes of bananas with a total value of P7 billion.
