GENERAL OUTLOOK FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD
• KONG-REY will move generally west northwestward then westward on Sunday (27 October) and Monday (28 October) while gradually decelerating. On the track forecast, it will enter the PAR region on Sunday with the domestic name “LEON”. The tropical cyclone will then turn northwestward on Tuesday (29 October), then generally northward on Wednesday (30 October) over the Philippine Sea. Within the PAR region, the path of KONG-REY will remain far from the Philippine landmass. However, the track forecast may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone, especially on the day-4 and day-5 of the track forecast.
• This tropical cyclone is expected to gradually intensify and may reach severe tropical storm category on Sunday. Furthermore, it may also reach typhoon category on Monday.
• Depending on how close it will be during its recurvature over the Philippine Sea, the outer rainbands of KONG-REY may also affect Extreme Northern Luzon. Furthermore, it may also continue to influence the Southwesterly Windflow initially triggered by Severe Tropical Storm KRISTINE, which may affect the western section of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the coming days.
• The approaching tropical cyclone may bring moderate to rough sea condition over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas. Mariners are advised to continue monitoring for updates and take precautionary measures as necessary.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates related to this tropical cyclone.
Unless there is an intermediate issuance, the next tropical cyclone advisory will be issued at 11:00 PM today.
