Two mild earthquakes struck the provinces of Davao Oriental and Bohol on Sunday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the first quake with a magnitude of 2.8 occurred at 4:42 a.m. with the epicenter traced at 17 kilometers southwest of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 150 kilometers.
The second tremor with a magnitude of 2.9 happened at around 10:49 a.m. and its epicenter was located six kilometers northeast of Cortes in Bohol. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Antequera and Intensity 2 in Balilihan, Bohol
The temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of seven kilometers.
Phivolcs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the two tremors and no aftershocks were expected.
The Philippines lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where 20 to 25 earthquakes per day -- mostly imperceptible -- are common, Phivolcs said. (PNA)
