Associated PressTwo small planes collided in the air and crashed in a rice field north of the Philippine capital on Sunday, killing two Indian citizens and a Filipino flight instructor, police said.
The Philippine-registered two-seater planes crashed in a farming village in Bulacan province's Malolos city, about 20 miles north of Manila, police officer Gilberto Punzalan told The Associated Press by telephone.
The planes went down in an area away from houses.
Punzalan said an initial investigation showed the two aircraft were being used for flight training when their wings grazed each other, causing the crash.
"They were students on flight training, and it appeared to have been an accident," he said.
