1-PACMAN REP. ROMERO SEEKS SWIFT ACTION ON MECHANICS OF LOANS TO PUV OPERATORS

1-PACMAN Party-list Representative Michael Romero urged the DOTr, DBP, and Landbank to fast-track their approval of the project mechanics and components on the use of the PUV Modernization Project funds that are in the 2018 budgets of the two state banks.

“Kailangan malaman ng publiko ang mahalagang papel ng Landbank at Development Bank of the Philippines sa buhay ng mga mahihirap at mga PUV operator,” Rep. Romero said.

Landbank and DBP have P1.133 billion each in their respective budgets for the PUV modernization program loans to PUV operators.

"Congress is waiting for the project mechanics and details for the loan program. The 2018 budget has a special provision requiring these," Rep. Romero said. (END)

BACKGROUND:

In 2017, the DOTr signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) at the DOTr building in Clark, Pampanga. The MOU signing coincided with the official launch of the DBP’s Support Alternative Driving Approaches (PASADA) Program.

Also in 2017, the DOTr also signed an MOU with the Landbank of the Philippines to set up a P1 billion financing for PUJs via the Special Environment-Friendly and Efficiently Driven (SPEED) Jeepney Program.
