Malacañang assured Wednesday that the government has readied contingency measures amid reports
Taal Volcano has shown signs of unrest.
Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza said the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and other concerned government agencies have been mobilized to monitor Taal’s volcanic activity and prepare the necessary evacuation plans in case of an eruption.
“The NDCC has been on its toes since the onset of the rainy season. As a matter of fact, we got a briefing on the preparations, the contingencies of the different agencies involved in disaster operation and of course we were of the impression and we believe the report that the government is ready,†Mendoza said in a news conference in the Palace.
