CEBU -- Authorities have arrested three of at least five suspects involved in the killing of a German national, and hurting two other foreigners at a fast food outlet in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City in Cebu.
Henry Haffiner, 31, was brought to Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City, where he was declared dead on arrival, while those who were injured were Julian Millard, 31, a French man, and Cheten Saparaiya, 32, an Indian national.
Supt. Carmelo Dayon, city police chief, identified the arrested man as Allan Velos. He was arrested inside his residence at Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City last Friday, 14 hours after the shooting incident.
Velos denied his involvement in the crime, adding that he was just inside his house when the shooting incident happened.
Haffiner's fiancee, however, identified Velos as one of the gunmen. Two other witnesses also positively identified Velos.
Two other suspects were also arrested on Saturday.
Rizzi Ramirez, 21, admitted that he was the one seen at the closed-circuit television (CCTV) video footage wearing a white sleeveless shirt.
He also admitted that he fired the gun thrice, resulting in the death of the German, after a certain person named Tata asked him to join the group.
Ramirez said he will cooperate in solving the case.
Another suspect, Roger Cale, was detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). He also denied the allegations, as well as his involvement in the shooting incident.
The police are forming a task force that will investigate the case while search for the rest of the suspects continue.
