Southern Negros swine breeders group get Php769,200 in enterprise assistance

BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 12 (PNA) -– The provincial government of Negros Occidental released Php769,200 worth of checks to the Manapla Swine Breeders Association for the implementation of its Swine Breeding Enterprise.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the turn-over rites held Thursday at the Governor’s Office here.

The checks were received by association chairman Francis Jelua and treasurer Michelle Ann Balase, in the presence of Lucille Gelvolea and Dr. Narissa Lemoncito of the Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit.

The Swine Breeding Enterprise is one of the micro-enterprises under the Investments in Rural Enterprise and Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (I-REAP) component of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) being implemented in Negros Occidental.

Engineer Arnel De Mesa, national deputy project director of PRDP, had earlier said they are looking at Negros Occidental as a model province, particularly in terms of maintaining balance and transparency in the implementation, and having many success stories.

Teams from DA-PRDP and its funding agency the World Bank arrived in the province last November for the conduct of the three-day 3rd World Bank Implementation Support Mission.

Among the other projects include two under the Intensified Building up of Infrastructure and Logistics for Development (I-BUILD). These are the Php154 million construction of Sagay Feeder Port and Fish Landing in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City; and the Php145 million rehabilitation of Hinicayan to Violeta Farm-to-Market Road with bridge component in Barangays E. Lopez and Kapitan Ramon, Silay City.

Also under the I-REAP are the Php328,000 rehabilitation of fish coral and fish trading support of Manlambus Fisherfolk Development Cooperative in Barangay Rizal, Escalante City; and the Php292,000 rehabilitation of fishing equipment for blue swimming crab enterprise in this town.

More than Php600 million sub-projects were already approved and pipelined in 2016 which mainly include farm-to-market road rehabilitation and construction with bridge components in cities of Cadiz and Sagay, and towns of Toboso, E.B. Magalona, La Castellana, and Pontevedra.

Marañon had also said the PRDP opened golden opportunities to benefit the rural marginalized sector.

“Its development framework addresses various critical aspects – providing links between producers and their potential markets – to ensure higher productivity and increased profitability for stakeholders in the whole chain of development,” the governor added.(PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
